This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

How many and what currently flying warbirds are in their original (re-created) WW2 schemes? P-38 Glacier Girl comes to mind and a few Spitfires. Maybe a few P-51's as well? I tried searching for an archive thread on this subject, no luck for me.

Cavanaugh's B-25J 'How Boot That'.
To top it off the original artist who painted the nose art returned to re-do it after the magnificent Aero Trader restoration.
*actually their F9F and F4 are also in their original livery.**

Several Spitfires (ML417, AR213, EP120, AR501 - although down for maintenance for the past year or so - TB863, MH434, Seafires SX336 and VP441 come immediately to mind)
Polly & Peter Vacher's Hurricane R4118
Paul Allen's P-51
TFC's P-40B, Hawk 75 and F6F
Isn't there a B-25 around in it's original markings? And one or more C-47s?
The Tallichet B-17 (sorry, couldn't resist that one!

)
Then we get into the realms of the 'paperwork specials' - the Robin Olds 'Scat' TF-51 for example, and some other P-51s that here probably isn't the time or place to go into detail on!

But aren't
1) WW2, and
2) currently flying
Which is what Hellcat specifically asked about. There are many preserved museum aircraft in their original schemes, and many flying post-WW2 (especially trainers) aircraft still in their original military schemes.

Spitfire Mk. XVIe TB863 at Temora, Australia
Hurricane P3351 in NZ (No. 73 Squadron colours, France, 1939-40)
P-40N 'Kurrawong' based at Ardmore, NZ
Spitfire V BL628 'Marion' restored in NZ, now in Texas
Most Harvards and many Tiger Moths in NZ wear colour schemes from their previous long RNZAF careers from WWII and postwar.

The CAF's R4D "Ready4Duty" is accurately painted for its service in the South Atlantic during WWII.

Shuttleworth's Sea Hurricane.
Mike Potter's Hurricane IV? I can't recall.
I think NOT TFC's F6F. That is a myth they have encouraged.
Ed Russell's Bf 109E.
Maybe Paul Allen's 109E also?

What about the B-25 "Briefing Time?" I remember back in the 80s they made a big deal about how she was a combat vet in her original markings.
I'd like to see the Yankee Air Museum's B-25D repainted in her original combat markings..or at least OD camouflage.

"Briefing Time" is not a combat veteran.

Well...............
When I met Alex Vraciu again a few weeks back, I asked him that very question, and can only report that he's ABSOLUTELY convinced that it contains the centre section of one of his old combat mounts, and says he followed its history for many years before it ended up in N100TF.

Hans Lauridsens TBM, and the AZ wings B-25, but, it has not flown yet, so I don;t know if that one counts

I actually own one. My NA-64 Yale is a "non combat" WW2 aircraft painted in it's original paint scheme.

Also FHC's Spitfire MkVc.
