Siai Marchetti SM-1019

Mon Jun 02, 2008 7:26 pm

I see there are about two-dozen of these registered here in the US, but it's the first time I've seen one in my travels. John Kibbler was in the process of taking this Siai Marchetti SM 1019 to it's new owner from Schellville Airport (CA) on Saturday.

As is evident, the plane was based on the Cessna O-1/L-19 Bird Dog with obvious modifications to the engine and tail. Power comes from a turboprop 317hp Allison 250-B17 engine.

Glad you caught it Roger, nice photo. I saw it sitting outside a couple of weeks back when I was on my way to Skypark and stopped to take a few shots. Not something you see every day!
