Hobbes B-25?

Howdy all...quick and painless question I hope

I see on the Danville, Virginia Air Show this coming weekend is a B-25 listed simply as Hobbes. Anybody know who's B-25 that is? Is she the former Carolina Girl? Any WIXers gonna be there this weekend? Think I am gonna take my Dad there on Sunday...

No guns in the turret either. And those colors aren't even close to authentic OD/Neutral Gray..and don't get me started on that inaccurate anti-glare panel. :wink:

I dont care, my first impression of the aircraft is that it plain and simple looks GOOD!

Yep, and it's still called Carolina Girl by some of us around here. Sure beats calling it 'the green airplane', which was a working title for a while :wink:

That didn't take long at all.

As far as the shiny paint and all...I agree with so many here finally in that the onwers are the only one's that need to be pleased with how their aircraft look!

Weather in Danville looks pretty bad for this afternoon...tomorrow looks a lot better. Chuck are you part of the Hobbes crew? If I make it there I will try to find ya and say howdy

I like it. Wish the "nose art" (or is that Cat Art?) was bigger though. I think some new, original nose art is something that should be present in the warbird community, like Ol' 927!

I would contend that it's the owners and general public that are ultimately the "judges" of a paint scheme. If it's going out for public display, then the owner is going to want to present the best "foot forward" and that's going to mean shine - authentic or not. That perception was reinforced at Corsicana and at the hangar in recent weeks when we got just as many "thanks for bringing such a piece of history" as "wow, that airplane looks old and beat up". We got plenty of people still looking through it, but the worn-out paint really does hurt the image of the airplane in many of the public's eyes because it reinforces that idea of "aging aircraft" that the airlines and FAA have fousted upon them as being "dangerous".

It a 25 and it's flying and that's good enough for me. I'm flying on Pacific Prowler in July!

Met Joe Noah from the Preddy Memorial Organization. Great Fella. Also,
John Shiffer (?) of the Champaign Organization who is the new owner of the Hobbes B-25. Mr Reilly is working hard on their B-17 as well. Fun day overall, old airplanes and great people!

Nope, I've pulled a wrench or two on it at times, and wiped a fair share of oil off of it, but I haven't flown on it for about a year or so. Too much else going on right now.
