Aluminum Overcast at Boeing Field, May 21-25

Mon May 19, 2008 2:47 am

Cascade Warbirds, EAA Squadron 2, is hosting Aluminum Overcast at Boeing Field, May 21 -25.

The B-17 will be staging in front of the Museum of Flight, and usually some of the Cascade members bring out their own aircraft.

I'll be there volunteering at least one day, hopefully more.

Anyone else going to stop by?

I love when my hometown bird stops by. I'll be out stalking it on Saturday & Sunday (and running outside everytime it flys over before then).

I'll be there tomorrow (Sat.).

Any photo requests from the Museum of Flight?

I work 'til 1:00 and will be heading out there after. Where exactly will you be as i'll try to stop by and say hi?

It's been less than stellar weather for them once again. I swear the AO crew must think the weather sucks here all the time.

Curtis,
Do you have any photos of Focke Wulf TA-152?

When I was there, I only got two. I would love to see more.

Best Regards,

I'm not sure where I'll be. When the aircraft is around I'll probably be out on the ramp. Ask around with the Cascade Warbirds people. I'll have my Cascade name tag on as well.

I'm not sure if the Dora is still there. If it is, I'll get some shots for you. If not, I'll dig out some of the ones I've already got.

The Dora is in Everett with Paul Allens collection. I miss it but at least it didn't go far.

As for pics, here are a couple I took earlier in the year.

I'm hoping to check out Allen's collection shortly after it opens on June 6th so i'll post pics if someone doesn't beat me to it.

I happened to be at the MOF today and saw the B-17 come and go.

Outstanding museum, by the way. I wish I'd been able to attend solo. With the wife, the brother and law, and a < 5 year old nephew in tow, it was a single pass in mil power kind of visit...

Well it's been a long two days. Seven flights yesterday and eight flights today, plus ground tours. Here are a few photos. Nothing spectacular, just a few of the many that I caught with my point and shoot digital.

Some of the members of Cascade Warbirds brought out their aircraft. I'd say about 12 showed up. I'll let spookythecat post photos of them, as I really didn't take any. I know he got shots of most, if not all in attendance.

There were a few pleasant surprises at the MOF for me.

Including this little beauty.

I forget who owns this DC-2. Clay Lacy?

Also it appears the museum has received it's new "Oscar."

They put it in on Wednesday. Absolutely gorgeous. I was told the old one is on its way to Pima. I've got more but I'll show them on another tread after I run them through something to lighten them up,

Not tonight though. I've got to be back at Boeing Field at 8:30 in the morning. Two more flights tomorrow and they said they needed me there to add some ballast to the airplane. 8)

O.K., so I'm confused. Which Oscar is the original one owned by NASM, and which one is the TAF replica?

I should hopefully post some pics on monday.

Curtis, it was good to meet you and put a face with your name.
