Mustang flight

On Tuesday my wife and I are leaving the East Coast for Hawaii to celebrate our 35th anniversary. On the way back we will be stopping at Chino. On Friday the 16th weather permitting, I have a flight scheduled at 1:00 with John Hinton in the museums P-51. Three years ago I flew with him in Wee Willy. I will be the guy with the Red Sox hat and the smile. Maybe someone can get some good shots of us.

You should have yourself a great time...I was down there twice last year and went up in the P-40 and Douglas SBD. On both occasions, we got to fly formation with 2 other aircraft. You never know what will go on there from one day to the next so consider taking a small camera with a normal lens with you. My results were worth the effort.

Congrats on your ride to be. You will wear a smile many weeks to come. You might take a throw away camera up with you and have John take some shots over his shoulder. It will stay snug under your seat beat or shoulder strap.

As of last October, it was $715.00/20 minutes. I would not be too surprised if they had to raise that account of the higher cost of avgas.

You will have a great time! I flew in Speedball Alice at Reno in 2006 (videos on Youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnvpPSCOXhc )
I echo the sentiment of taking a small camera. The vid was shot on one.
Although I fly in modern aircraft for a living, I just love the warbirds, we still have a Harvard earning its keep and she joined us in 1943! How about that for a continuous one owner workhorse!! When I flew in her my grin was ridiculous! After the P-51 it was a biblical permanent fixture (40days and 40 nights!)
I am so indebted to the people who keep these aircraft active and allow us to watch, feel, hear and absorb them for what they are, protectors of the peace and liberators of the oppressed.
I have been lucky to fly in B-17, B-25, P-51 recently, want the P40, B24 and Spitfire (though will have to wait and lose weight too for that).

That price seems right if you belong to the museum. I just hope his watch quits half way through the flight.
Three years ago we took off and joind with a FM-2 Wildcat. Well after videoing the taxie and takeoff I went to take a photo of the Wildcat just off our left wing and the camere said "batteries exhausted". I guess I have learned my lesson.
