Does anyone know the tail number of the UH-1 Iroquois at the Battleship Park in Mobile, AL. I am trying to determine if this is the same one assigned to VVA Post 701. I.e. what are the markings on the Alabama memorial Huey?

Mike,
As stated in USAMOOS, its 69-16730. VVA 701 look after it, or should I say looked after it - it was blown off its pole by Hurricane Ivan in Sep04.

Thanks for the confirmation Andy. I didn't want to draw any conclusions without checking first.
Does anyone know if the Huey has been remounted?

At one time there were two Hueys at B/P. Ivan got the one outside by
the V/N memorial. Katrina got the one inside the hanger.

When you say "got one" do you mean destroyed no longer in existance, or damaged to be redisplayed once repaired?

Mike, that is a good question. I was told it was damaged beyond repair.
I know neither are at B/P and have not been for several years. The
exact ultimate fate of what remained is unknown to me.
The pole beside the V/N memorial remains naked. I know the park has
been trying to secure another Huey to put on the pole.
