This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Thanks for the photos, Matt.
It stinks to see any of these old warriors cut up for scrap, but at least the remains are intended for a good purpose. That is going to be quite a project to pull off.

Wow, good pics. Where is the Lucky Lady II fuselage located and who owns it?
Also, what's with the Japanese marked T-33 in the background?

Chino, POF. I think this stuff was moved from Chino to make room for new hangar construction. The Valle environment is better for long term preservation as well.

Matt, Thanks for starting the post of the KC-97 wings.
Here are a few pictures of the fuselage of B-50 Lucky Lady II at Planes of Fame, Chino, CA, and the wing with engines and nacelles that are at Planes of Fame, Valle, AZ.
It will be a great restoration to follow when the parts are in one location. In talking with the Planes of Fame volunteers yesterday, I found out that the center section of the wing was required in the restoration as it had been removed from the fuselage of Lucky Lady II. Volunteers for the project are needed and of course all of the parts and equipment need to be in one place.

The Japanese operated the T-33 in substantial numbers and I would guess this was one of them.

Are those remains from the other Moses Lake KC-97 or the one that used to belong to H&P and was scrapped 10 years or so ago?

Just a footnote- when Lucky Lady II was carted around for display by the USAF, the spar carrythrough was cut to make a walkway. All that will need to be repaired before the B-50 can sit on it's gear once again. It isn't as simple as just bolting the wings on.
Much of the interior has been resored over the years by the volunteers, including cockpit, radios and fire control apparatus.
It may be a very long time before this aircraft is on its gear again, but as you can see, POF has plans to someday return this aircraft to its former glory (although probably not flight-worthy).

This is an exciting project I wish them all the best! I do wonder why the props were cut off though?

Any idea what they might use for an aft fuselage section or props? It seems like the world is short on B-29/B-50 aft fuselage sections. Here's Hopin', Command Decision, Kee Bird, Lucky Lady. I guess that would be first on my to do list if I won the lottery.
