B-25 on the ramp today at Love Field, Dallas, Texas

Thu Apr 17, 2008 9:25 pm

There is a B-25 parked on the ramp behind the Frontiers of Flight Museum and was wondering who's it is? Yellow cowl rings with Yellow stripes on the tail.

TIA,

Lynn

Lynn,

Its there for the Doolittle Reunion functions this weekend.

Frontiers of Flight and Cavanaugh are co-hosting the reunion, with the Doolittle luncheon taking place at the Cavanaugh tomorrow.

The Doolittle Raider B-25 from LSFM is up there. I believe its in a hangar for the reunion.

I must've heard them heading north the previous day 'round noon..such a unique sound. When
they're slow cruising they are almost past me before I can get outside to see them.
That's on a typical Harley D local neighborhood-traffic day...on a quiet day, that characteristic rolling
rumble precedes them like an oil tanker bow wave. :)

I was crossing over the Kemah bridge 6pm today and was treated to one of the Tora Zekes overhead
doing a little sightseeing. A circuit just off the boardwalk...an S-turn or 2 and off he went west
over Clear Lake.

If folks who love warbirds are ever looking for a mild wintered place to retire to, combined with
very active vintage aircraft traffic, the west shore is one of the good ones...cheap living too!

Need a few PBY's shooting touch and go's in the Bay added to the local aerial color giving us
a slight taste of what it must have been like 'round here during the war. Course..I wouldn't mind
seeing a formation of DH-4's over the Bay, or somesuch...reminding us of the 1st Aero Squadron
period either..mind you!

I responded to the question from Lynn, but forgot to mention which B-25 it was he saw. It was Martha Jean.

The line up is as follows:

LSFM B-25 (44-86734) at Frontiers of Flight (Love Field, Dallas, TX)
"How Boot That" (44-28925) at CFM (Addison, TX)
"Martha Jean" (44-86777) doing the flying between the two venues, and on display at each venue during the actual funtion.
