victory air museum

I have a question.

What was the name of the air strip the Victory Air Museum (Gilmer Rd. near Volv Ill.) was on, or, wasn't it named ??

Excuse my typing it is Volo, I think the address was Mundeline however VAM was closer to Volo.

I believe it was the Paul Polidori Air Strip. I knew Earl and Ray Reinert well back in the late 1970s and visited the museum a few times.

here's another question

Did some of his planes fly in or were they all trucked in. I used to go there in the late 1960's and don't remember anything of any size landing there. maybe Dick Phillips can find some photos

Polidori Field, owned by Paul Polidori. Paul had a T-6G there. The nearest town was Volo, the nearest place anyone local had heard of was Mundelein.

He later sold the T-6 and died in the crash of his Taylorcraft:

Pretty sure everything but the T-6 and the Spam cans were trucked in and out.

Glad I found this last time I was back in Illinois... Cimmaron, when was the last time you went there? I used to go there almost every weekend from '79 through '81 (including winter, because it was the only time you could work on the planes without getting strafed by wasps!) If you remember a kid from Northbrook who drove a green VW station wagon or a gold '74 Cadillac, that was me.

I went past there about a year ago. There isn't much left, houses are all around the field but Paul's house and the main hanger were still there. I'm hoping someone digging a basement will find a Buffalo
