Hiller UH-12E Down(no fatalities)

Sun Apr 06, 2008 2:09 am

..in La Porte, Texas. Friday afternoon around 3pm, N40289 crashed for unknown reasons.
The single occupant pilot survived, tho reported in hospital with a broken leg.

I've grown quite fond of this bird as part of the local aerial menagerie and am
sad to report she appears to be extensivley damaged..probably a write-off.

She appears to have struck the ground flat and rolled over on her right side.
Typical "UH-12 rash".. tailboom chopped off by the main rotor upon impact
and lots of naughty bits scattered about..truly a bad day..

Local Sky-Eye video of the wreck...

EDIT: If I didn't get the Vid link right, here's a snapshot of N40289 in better days...

Ooops! I was afraid of that, I got the link from this computer(crap)
but viewed the footage of the Hiller in detail from a much better one. Since it's
good news, I'll leave the mistake in. Thanks for the help CAP!!
