Taigh On TV

Thu Apr 03, 2008 5:57 pm

Wix member Taigh Ramey is on tv. I just, Thur afternoon, saw TLC channel a program called "What Not To Wear" which is usually about bringing someone's wardrobe up to date. Not this time, I see Taigh helping a lady into a flight suit a few sizes too big, then they are off in his twin Beech with her flying if you can believe what is on the screen. A few good shots of the plane.

They were going to try to bring his wardrobe up to date, but they were unable to convince Taigh to part with his favorite baggy olive green overalls. The New York folks sort of made a flight in a warbird about like swimming with a white shark. Once back on the ground they had big smiles.

The whole premise of the show was goofy if you ask me. A couple who are having problems understanding each other were taken out to see what their spouces interests were and trade places for a day. Mixed into this they got a clothing makeover. She got a stylish  …flight suit!

She liked the San Francisco Giants so he got to do what she dreamed of and got to play ball at the Giants stadium. He is into WWII online games and flying so she got to take a flying lesson in the C-45H. It sure seemed a little backwards if you ask me.

It was about 110 degrees that day and it was a long shoot. The host, I forgot his name, was dying from the heat. We finally got in the Beech and did a lot of filming inside before we started the engines. With the heat, being tired on top of being a nervous flyer I thought he was going to pass out. He was complaining a lot but of course none of that made it through the editing. He was certainly happy to be back on the ground and I can’t blame him since I was flying.

We used the RC-45J for the camera ship and Steve, one of our mechanics, actually filmed the air to air shots. It was a new experience for me as it was the first time I had ever seen the RC-45J fly. I have had her flying since 1999 and I have always been the one flying her. I let Jerry Anderson fly the RC and I flew formation on him in the C-45H around the pattern while they filmed us.

It was a strange day but we had fun. Here are a couple of shots of the shoot:
