where would I find the serial # or data plates on a mustang? In the cockpit? on the firewall?..its been stripped of paint....thanks for the help...cameron..

NAA data plate should be on the left side of the cockpit just below the canopy rail and about 8" to 10" aft of the windshield frame and should be a 122- serial number. Assuming it's a D
USAAF data plate should be on the right side, just below the canopy rail and and about 15" aft of the windshield frame and probably be a 44- serial number, possibly a 45-.

It is a small plate which is attached with rivets.
They are visible below the R/H window just below the warning stencil about 1/3 of the way from the front about 10" above the radio control head. This is a P-51C cockpit.
