Ryan NYP replicas

Hi,

Does anyone have details on the replicas modified
for the 1957 film Spirit of St. Louis?
They were done by Tallmantz and I know two were
N7206 and N7212 but I don't have details on the
third.

ISTR reading in Air Classics or something that they weren't what I'd consider replicas, but modified Ryan Broughams & they were only modified on one side so the pilot could still see out.

I saw a Ryan Brougham at the San Diego Air and Space Museum last Fall.I thought they were pretty much extinct as most of the few surviving airframes have been used to make Spirit of St. Louis replicas. The museum had a Brougham, and hanging and above it a Spirit of St. Louis replica. Nice comparison.

I believe one Tallman Replica was destroyed in the San Diego museum fire .
Kind of lost track of the other.

Yanks in Chino has the restoration of a Brougham just about finished.

EAA actually built two NYP replicas, the one flown on the 1977 tour and then another completed in 1991 so that they would have something to fly at shows after retiring the first one. IIRC both replicas were scratch built, they didn't destroy Broughams to make them.

There is a very nice replica hanging inside the Lindbergh Terminal at the St. Paul/Minneapolis International airport, which was restored not too long ago, I believe in 1999, after hanging in the terminal for over a decade. I've heard that it was one of the three replicas produced for the movie, this one in particular being used for only ground scenes. This is only what I've heard however.

The three Brougham B-1's used in the movie were:
Production #153 - NC-7206 Missouri Historical Society Museum
Production #156 - NC-7209 Henry Ford Museum
Production #159 - NC-7212 Cradle Of Aviation Museum
