I don't think Rich (51fixer) would know anything about the P-38 restoration picture.

AD-5 done by Fighter Rebuilders for Bob Pond.
P-38 by Fighter Rebuilders for Bob Pond as Jolten Josie. Now with POF. I did about a year of work on this a/c. Featured in Jesse Alexander's coffee table book during the restoration. Bob Ponds Mustang in the foreground.
So Cal CAF Bearcat at Fighter Rebuilders. I believe John Sandberg sponsored the work and engine on this.
Yanks P-63.
John Sandberg's Mustang which was rebuilt at Fighter Rebuilders. All the skin was replaced and many custom touches were incorporated. Today it is owned by Ron Fagen.

wow that Yak is impressive, what's the story there?

51fixer, you got most of them right, but missed one.
The P-38 ended up as Happy Jacks Go Buggy and made a hole at Duxford. Josie was already restored and flying when this was taken.
If by "Yanks P-63" you mean the one that is now Kermit's P-63, I think you are correct. It's not Fatal Fang.
You nailed the others.

I stared at the photo and now I remember. We had to finish the nose outside on Josie. This one we finished the nose structure in the hangar and I worked on Stephen Grey's P-38 for more than a couple of years.
Someday I will try to scan some of the thousands of slides and photos I have of working at Chino.

Rich, remember "hanging the gear" on the P-38?

Also remember the glue-lam beam went in there for the P-38 resto so it would fit in the shop.
