New Indiana Jones Antonov

Hi,

Does anyone have some knowledge of the Antonov An-2
Colt which features in the new Indiana Jones film due
out this May?

It is marked as "PAA" with a fictional rego. N48550.

The pilot and crew were out of Alaska. It had the typical wax based movie paint with weathering. Also had a heck of a prop seal leak.

If it is from Alaska, the owner is probably Lee Barker. He is the An-2 guru there.

Its great to get a reply to this thread I wrote back in
Feb.

I believe the Antonov in question is N87AN of
Alaska but checking the FAA website today, I
see it is no longer registered there??? Anyone
have any updated info.

With the film's release this wekend it'll be great
to finally see this aircraft on the big screen.
Skip Evans's DC-3 also features as does a PV-2
Harpoon in background shots.

Interesting to see that it has PanAm Grace markings. Since I haven't seen the movie (and don't plan to do it any time soon), is the movie action somehow located in Latin America?

I understand the film is set in 1957 and that some
of the action takes place in Mexico.
Eagle Field and Modesto (George Lucas's
hometown) Airport both in California play parts
as Mexican Airports.
As a Fairchild C-82 fan I'd love to have seen
a few dosral-finned Mexicana Airlines C-82's
"CGIed" into the background. Afterall the late 50's
and 60's were the magic years for the "ol' propliners".

I can not legally provide any information about the plot of the movie. However it is worth mentioning that the media has widely reported that Eagle Field, Dos Palos, CA was used as an airport in South America, and Fresno's Chandler Airport was used for scenes as both Mexico City and Branford, Conn. I don't believe that Modesto Airport was used in any scenes.

I'll be seeing the film on Thursday so I'll let you know how it was.

My dad is very good friends with the owner of the Antonov AN-2 in the Indiana Jones movie. The owner of the Antonov is Doug Fulton of Alaska. He flew the plane in the movie in Arizona. The plane is actually Burgandy, but they did photoshop and editing to depict that the plane was blue and rusted. Funny thing is, aluminum doesn't rust...
