Actually they're F9F-8 Cougars which the Blue Angels unfortunately flew for only a brief period (about 1955-57).

This was the only picture I can remember seeing of the Blue Angels flying the F9F-8's with nose refueling probes. I think possibly these may have only been present on the Blue Angel Cougars during the last year or so they were in use.

I remember the Blue Angels two-seater "Number 7" F9F-8T/TF-9J Cougar that they continued to fly during their years with the F11F-1/F-11A Tiger, but unfortuntely never saw them fly prior to the "Tiger" years.
