In early 1945 while on a bombing mission over Germany, a USAF B17/ P-51 group were attcked by FW190 and BF109s.

In the attack the P-51s were chasing and attacking the Luftwaffe when suddenly, something VERY odd for them happended..

In the middle of the attacking RUSSIAN YAK-3 were also attacking the Luftwaffe and thru this came confusion..

The Russians could see the P-51s clearly and went after the Luftwaffe only but the fight were like this now --

FW190 chased by Mustang chased by YAK-3 and shooting at YAK-3 was a P-51...

So the US attacked the Russians and were now involved in a dogfight it seems..

Friendly fire reared it ugly head once again.

Air Fan International, October 1995.

A 6 page long article by Alain Pelletier on this subject.

Just by coincidence, I was reading this article last night.
