Ryan;
Where is that photo from of the SBD's intermixed with the B-25's?
I've never seen a shot of the Hornet with Doolittle's B-25's on the deck with anything BUT the B-25's visible.

Do you know when this photo was taken?
Could it possibly be taken off of Norfolk earlier in 1942 when two B-25's were launched from the Hornet to "prove" the theory? I've never seen any photos from that trial run.
Very interesting.

The photo was taken somewhere between when the Hornet left San Francisco and when the Raiders launched. There are some other photos that show SBDs and Wildcats on the rear around the elevator as well as some near the front of the ship.

Those are the Raiders B-25s - not the ones near Norfolk.

Thanks Rayn,
That's cool.
A neat photo I've never seen before.

But that brings up another point...are there any photos or film of the B-25 trials off of Norfolk?
It might have been so top secret that records didn't survive.
