I don't have any specific current details, but when I went to the GML last fall, I talked to several of the CWH's Lancaster crew about the movie. They have been asked by Peter Jackson to participate in the filming of the movie. Unfortunately, the logistics would involve flying the Lanc from Canada to England for the flying scenes. Apparently, at that time they were stalled in the talks about money and compensation to the crews and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. Everyone I talked to wanted to fly the airplane and participate in the filming but they didn't want to do it for free. I haven't heard any more details since then.

I would think that movie is going to be a long time coming (if at all). Jackson is re-attached to "The Hobbit" after some nasty money squabbles with New Line Cinema. "The Hobbit" is supposed to be next on Jackson's plate, and there was some talk of splitting that into two movies in order to tell the story with the same depth as The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

There are a lot of movies that end up getting shelved before they ever get into production. Heck, my copy of "Red Storm Rising" has a title page that says "soon to be a major motion picture" on it. Until they start shooting, nothing about that movie is certain.

That would be a Sight to see! 2 Lanc's together! Though the BoB group would then have to make a trip across the pond too, ya know, just to be fair.

...And now there's another nasty money squabble between New Line and Tolkien's estate. Seems the family hasn't seen a dime of the profits they were promised (and the three films have grossed over six BILLION worldwide.) Maybe if The Hobbit does get "back burnered," Jackson will get back to Dam Busters.

Actually, I have been following this...Christian Rivers is set to direct it, one of Peter's disciples, they have already constructed several mock up Lancs and they are in pre-production on it, check some of the movie sites for more details, but it is underway and should appear in the next few years....they hope to move on to the next two Hobbit pics in the next few years, legal hassles with Tolkien's family hopefully not impeding any progress there if all goes well...Jackson and New Line have made up and he will be involved.
