I wonder if that Kate replica is one of the airframes built in Japan for Tora3? Does anybody know the where abouts or dispositions of all the US built Kates?

You may be right Jerry. This may be one of the lost Tora birds from across the lake!

The museum is home of the Thai warbird association 'Tango Squadron'.

Some more info here: http://thaiaviation.com/gallery2/v/Tang ... hiang+Mai/

I don't recall if any of the Kates built in the US had the gear P&W and the 3 Bladed props. I'll have to check my "stuff". It just doesn't look exactly right.

Is this an early AVG aircraft?

If so, I'd sure like to see them gently wash that left wing, and maybe give it a gentle coat of wax so that we could see those cool colors underneath....

nice pics!

cheers!

You know, it looks like about the same amount of aircraft and in a similar condition to the one Avspecs is working on right now.... :D

Seriously though, if there are patches of original paint shouldn't someone be documenting it? I understand that there is some contention about what the colour specs actually were on these early avg aircraft.

fascinating stuff!

doesn't look Right? She would look PERFECT sitting on the Tarmac in Bridgeport! :D
And she looks airworthy if not flyable.

So if this is one of the 3 flyable built Kates from Japan, then there are still 2 to count for, and a whole mess of zeros and t-6s. All very hazy
