West Virginia Locator

I have taken the West Virginia section of the Locator as far as I can, so I turn it over to you...

You will find the “Need Help List” below. It is simply a list of locations for which I need assistance to make the data more complete. The “Need Help List” is a subset of the complete listing which is available via the link above and that subset includes the locations with the big red + signs. If you notice you have any info to contribute when viewing the complete list just click the red or blue + and you will be taken to a form where many of the fields will already be filled out but you can also provide corrections and/or new information. You can also post your contributions here if you would like.

I am looking forward to any assistance you may be able to provide.

Note: Remember you can right click any of the maps to obtain coordinates of the location clicked. Often the “Need Help List” is asking for more accurate coordinates, so if you can provide those just zoom in and right click on the location to get the coordinates.

#4323 - Blacksville - There may be or once was a F-84 displayed in Blacksville. Can you confirm it is still displayed? If so where exactly is it?

#4007 - Charleston - Apparently a F-4 is displayed in the area. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?

#4009 - Fairmont - There is a UH-1 displayed at the Marion County Vietnam Veterans Memorial in East Marion Park. A map reference is needed. Where exactly is the UH-1 located?

#4015 - Weirton - There may also be a F-8 and an UH-1 displayed in Weirton. Can you confirm? If so where exactly are they?

#4014 - Weirton - There is an AH-1 displayed at a Brooke-Hancock County Veterans Memorial in Weirton. A map reference is needed. Where exactly is the AH-1.

Blacksville, assuming its the one in northen WV near Morgantown, there isn't a F-84 I know of in the area. I lived there for a long time. NADA

Also no F-4 in the Charleston Area. Just a P-51 in Yeager Airport, F-86D in Milton.

#4015 I think that is an A-7. I will check.

Mike,
I am still confused by some of your requests. As you have a copy of my book, you know that 4014 and 4015 are one and the same, and that it is an A-7, serial 69-6241, not an F-8, and an AH-1, not a UH-1.
Also, the F-84 in Blacksville is not displayed, it is inside a automobile scrapyard which may be why our local man on the spot has not seen it.
Never heard of an F-4 in Charleston (at least not the one in WV), where did this info come from?

I will review that section in your book. It is possible I have had some bad info from other sources (websites, books, etc.) which confuse types, etc. I like to use the Locator to set the record straight when the truth is confirmed. I do this by including notes in the public comments, much like notes at the end of listings which I have been reading in your book. The confusion may also be resulting from typos on my part. Your book has tons of good info in it, and I am a good typist, but not so good I am error free. I may be making many gaffs while transcribing it all.

Is the A-7 and the AH-1 displayed close-by to each other?

I don’t normally track the original sources for each piece of info (this task is big enough as it is), I’ll check my original sources tonight and see if I can find the report.
