I wonder what his intentions are? It would be VERY interesting to see a Bearcat acro group on the circuit, ala original Blue Angels... but the cost of such a venture... and would there even be a demand for it?

Since one of his Bearcats is Rare Bear, I don't think you will see it doing any acro!

Well, it's always in demand with our group... but what about the en masse airshow crowds who come for the T-Birds and leave before the B-17 formation... are they going to come to a show that has an act like that as the headline?

And it's an academic point anyway. Can anyone REALLY see the highly-modified, clipped-wing, pure racer that is Rare Bear being used for aeros?

Actually, I HAVE seen it. Lyle was known to ring it out back in the old days. I doubt it would be flown like that now.

There's video out there of Rare Bear and Dago both putting on some pretty nice acro acts in the past. I do think that while people may not know the difference between 4 stock Bearcats either painted as Blue Angels or just similarly painted and 4 T-6's, they know they sound different and the Bearcat has a lot more extra power, so they'd be able to so some much flashier maneuvers that would "wow" the crowd as well or better than a trio of T-6s.

Either way, most airshow promoters seem to be looking for something "different" to draw people in and something like that would be just that. Do a heritage Blue Angels routine (or similar to what their routine was back then) and you'd have something to offer. Potentially even something the Navy Legacy Flight might be interested in supporting.

If Mr. Lewis wants a 3 ship team, Im sure he can buy the LSFM's example and bring his squad to an amazing 4. He's been buying so many warbirds. Im sure he has the avaliable funds, if he wanted to have 4 Bearcats.

Then you could have your 3 ship Blue Angles/Squadron acro-team, and still have the ringer. (Rare Bear)
