I was talking to a friend tonight, and it turns out that his father was a P-51 pilot in Italy in WW2, John Benedict, who flew a P-51 named Spittin Kitten. Anybody know any more about him, what squadron, etc??

The 5th FS 52nd FG 12th & 15th AFs were called the Spittin Kittens and flew out of N. Africa and Italy.
That maybe where the reference came from. Some of the squadron Spits and P-51s carried the insignia I believe.
