"TWILIGHT ZONE" Warbird Episodes

Mon Dec 31, 2007 10:02 am

Gang, Late Tonite (Tues AM Jan 1st) the Sci-Fi Channel will be showing some Classic Warbird Episodes. The first will be "THE LAST FLIGHT". It's all about a WW1 British Pilot who lands (Frank Tallman's) Nieuport on a Modern 1960 USAF Base in France. Note the "Modern USAF Planes" in the background, like the Old Shakey & the F-86 Sabre Jet.
It was actually filmed at Norton AFB, San Bernardino, Ca.

This is a good one & You can also see it right here:

Also, "KING NINE WILL NOT RETURN" airs right after the next episode. It's all about a WW2 AAF B-25 that crashes in the Desert. Losely based on "The Lady Be Good"

One on My Favorite Episodes is "THE 7th IS MADE UP OF PHANTOMS" all about an M5 Stuart "Ghost Tank" that travels back in time, complete with it's crew. Ha! Ha! Warren Oates plays one of the bewildered Tankers...

Here's the Very First Pilot Episode of the Twilight Zone called "WHERE IS EVERYBODY?". All about a USAF Pilot who is stranded on Earth. Ha! Ha! Sometimes I feel this way Myself.
I went to an open "SONIC" Hamburger Joint recently & nobody was there:

Gotta' DIG that Crazy 50's Music playing on the vacant Diner's Jukebox!

The Times on these may be a little screwy. You'll have to figure out Your-Own Time Zone. "THE LAST FLIGHT" is supposed to air at 3am Eastern, but My Cable Station says 3:22am. "KING NINE WILL NOT RETURN" is supposed to air at 4am Eastern. My Cable List says 4:22am.

Here's the Time Zone Schedule. If it's not on as listed, just wait 20 minutes...
Your different time-zone can be seen in the Lower Right Corner:

"THE 7th IS MADE UP OF PHANTOMS" Stuart Tanker Episode airs at 8pm (Eastern)

The only problem that I have with the 7th is Made Up of Phantoms is that they left their M5 when they went over the hill to join up with Custer ! They went to join Custer ? Knowing the outcome why in the heck would anybody want to do that ? And they had a perfectly good tank, at least they took their M1 carbines and .45s with them. Didn't help thogh their names still wound up on the monument, and listed them as "troopers ".

I know it's entertainment, and it is one of my favorites.

On the issues about the 7th is Made Up of Phantoms, I had another problem, where it seemed like everyone was an authority on Custer History down to the second. They knew what happened and where. Hard to belive that one, but then it was the ZONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark H

This is where Custer ended up at................. (I believe he is burried at West Point). Amazing how small last stand hill was, my front yard is a lot bigger.

IIRC the sergeant in charge of the tank was a Custer afficianado. He's the one who had the timeline.

Ha! Ha! Knowing the "National Guard" they were probably afraid that the arrows would scratch the tank's paint...

I was active-duty USAF stationed at Dover, AFB. I would always DREAD "Reservist Weekend" each month... Ugh!!... Those cheap little "Weekend Warrior" Reservist Punks would always invade Our Base & SCREW everything up.
They'd open up all Our Survival Equipment & play with it all day. They'd leave everything a complete twisted mess &
I had to clean it all up. GRRRRRRRRR!! ..... Digger

Anyone remember a Twilight Zone ep (maybe a Dead Zone ep??) where a USAF astronaut flying, I think, an X-15 returns after a flight to find that the world has stopped. There are people standing around frozen in time, etc. I don't remember what happens, but I think I remember the guy seeing all kinds of bad things about to happen, like a kid about to be hit by a car and such.

I saw this as a kid and haven't seen it since.

The show with the X-15 was the outer limits

I always remembered the episode of Amazing Stories where the Ball Turret gunner draws the B-17 with the striped landing gear that appear right at touchdown.

That was called "The Mission". Still have it on VHS taped off NBC when it was originally broadcast.

On the crew were Kevin Costner and Kiefer Sutherland.

EDIT: Linky for some additional cool info:

And YouTube has it in four parts, dubbed in Spanish, but not English:

My Favorite part of "The 7th Is Made Up Of Phantoms" are all the Original WW2 Tanker Helmets!!
I'm also a WW2 Armor Fanatic. It's cool to see them in the close-ups & study thier detail...

Here's My WW2 Tanker Impression at the Frederick, Md, Airshow.
Note the WW2 Tanker Helmet & early "Resistal" Goggles...

That's Me about to have a Healthy Lunch:
