Question for Jiggers From Philly

Fri Dec 28, 2007 8:55 pm

I found a bunch of WWII infantry and armor photos (yes, Jack has bunchs of these also!). Among them are these 2. I never seen this reverse angle of Ike talking to these 'Joes'. What's their unit (the heart is the insignia right??), and the second of Cpl Joe Oleskeiwicz HQ/1-1st ABD was one of the filthy 13 (right?) and was KIA I think. Can't find any info really. What do you know????

The Screaming Eagle patches indicate 101st Airborne.

I'm dumb but not stupid  :?
I'm referring to the heart on the helmet which IDs
the PIR of the 101st.

The Insignia of the 506th PIR was a spade. This is a heart. Sorry Mudge, no pony for you
