San Antonio Warbirds

Sun Dec 23, 2007 1:39 pm

Looking for a way to get warbird experience in the San Antonio area. Got 20+ years in military jet maintenance,A&P and a little B25 time.Would like to find someone local that needs a good wrench that is looking for long term hands on experience.

The only "Warbird Gentleman" I've heard of in the San Antonio area is one
Rod Lewis but I know little about him other than he has a very good taste for Warbirds. From my understanding he immerged as one of the aggressive new owners of some of the currently very noteable Warbirds.
If you're for real I'm sure he would be interested in talking to you. If I were you I'd look him up.

Happy Holidays,
Tom

Other options would be to check up at Boerne Stage - I don't know what's left there, but Obergrafeter - who posts on this board might have some ideas. The Yellow Rose B-25 is within driving distance - albeit barely - in San Marcos along with some other CAF planes. Also, if you wanted to work on some light aircraft - Cannon Field is a pretty nice little place.

Rod has a full crew of experienced mechanics for his collection of warbirds and business aircraft.

Still would not hurt to check I guess.

Thanks, I spend time whenever able with the Rose. Working odd hours so looking for something closer to SA. Any ideas of how to get in touch with Mr Lewis? I am well aware of his collection and his status here in town. Figured he would be hard to get in touch with.

Give me a shout in a couple of days. I think I have two contacts for people around him...

Jetmech,

My bird's nest is at Boerne Stage and although a Vietnam warbird, I would always welcome help wrenching if you care...(expecially in next several months....don't ask...the baby is ailing and needs some TLC). Contact me thru PMs if you want to talk.
