If Santa gave you one choice ... P-51, Bearcat, B-17, etc.

If you could choose one free warbird to own .... any warbird, what would it be? .... you have to be a little logical, logistics, insurance, maintainance, operational value, ... all that stuff. I'm guessing I would own a P-51 over a bearcat or sea fury .... seems the best choice for many reasons. Even a T6 or T-28 over a Mustang, what about an F-86 or Mig? or etc. ... And you can't sell it either, you would want to keep it in this question. And also lets assume you are qualified to fly it too.

Hmm....P-40B with OD/NG with red disk insignia. :D

B-17, hands down.

Great choice Nathan.

P-51.
Sorry kids, no inheritance.

Remember, you have to be able to take care of it, remember it's been given to you and you can't sell it. A B-17 seems a lot of work and expensive after you have it. A smaller airplane seems more logical. REMEMBER, you have all the warbird community watching what you do with it and how you take care of it, I would hate to have a warbird given to me and then let it go to h*ll because I couldn't figure out how to take care of it. You probably would want to display it at airshows, etc. How would you handle that? ..... These are good questions because young people will be acquiring these warbirds down the road soon. Wouldn't you like to know how the yound folks view the display and care of all your warbirds? Assume you have a reasonable amount of money to devote to the care of a warbird.

T-34C thank you

Awwww dang hellcatdriver......just when I was dreaming good, you had to go and ruin it. :P I guess there is no way I could afford the upkeep of my P-40B. Crap! :?

AT-11

with working bombsight, bomb bay, gun turret, NFA registered gun, etc.

small enough I can personally maintain it, parts/data still available, not a huge gas hog, big enough to bring a few friends flying.

oh, and I'd base it near an ocean, have plenty of cement bombs and ammo for it.

yeah, I know.

but they gotta catch me first. :D :D :D

that's not true, your P-40B is just fine, just adds a few extra responsibilities, a very rare airplane, what would you do with it?, fly it?, keep it grounded?, remember its a very, very rare airplane. ... :D

I'd fly it in the Tora, Tora, Tora reanactment. It wouldn't be rare cause it would be a reproduction.
