But: where is the B-24 nose wheel, where is the B-17 tailwheel? Is this an early form of filmshopping? Does anyone know the full story?

I think this may be legit. I seem to remember reading and seeing a picture of this once before. I think the idea was to add more armor/ armament to a B-24 so they swapped a B-17G front end on.
My guess is that the person happened to be standing infront of the tail wheel.

I think its got a nosewheel, you just can't see it in the video.

i don't think it looks bad at all. i wonder how it flew?? was it just the 1, or were a few others made as well??

Looks like some of the problems this hybrid was intended to resolve were addressed by Consolidated in the B-32.
