Incoming Boomer...

Sat Dec 01, 2007 2:35 am

Can't leave them all to Jack. In a late, blatant effort to solicit nomination for nearly the most useless poster of 2005 (oh ~ am I late?) here's:

A Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation Boomerang is demonstrated at Fisherman's Bend. We now had a fighter of our own to defend Australia with:

(With thanks to John Parker for the original CAC scan.)

And one for the photographers here. I don't think I've ever seen quite this kind of evidence of the shutter speed before - note the way the prop hub and other items have moved towards the photographer during the exposure!

James...love that cockpit shot. They don't get any more pristine than that.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, great shot of an incoming boomer :D

Pity about the modern comms on the panel of Matts, just wait till you see Greg Batts Cockpit shot (coming VERY soon). Its pretty much original ww2 fit out...much like mine will be (if I ever finish it)

The good news is that within the next 5-10 years we should be looking at almost a small squadron of Airworthy Boomers in OZ and a good handful of statics.... not bad for an Aircraft that was practically extinct ( only 1 complete example was left in Sydney ) after WW2 and the axes of the scrappers :D

My God they're everywhere!!!

They are taking over the world!!!Honestly with the mount of Boomers in the works our Spit will feel quite neglected..Had our Chrissy Party last night and had a good chat to a guy helping out on Gregs.Should be an awsome rebuild with the work that is being carried out on her.Going slightly OT,did anyone ever find out what happened to Boomer number 1??

Boomerangs are sweet.

I love the Boomerang too! If I had the money I'd want to have one of my own here in Canada. Then again, I'd hate to steal an Aussie plane from its home.

Cheers,

David
