Well....

After an inordinate amount of procrastination, distraction and occasional inebriation, I've finally managed to scan, archive and establish an on-line archive of photographs taken by my father - Bob Guilford.

So far, I've got over 500 pictures of various warbirds, racers and people posted online for your viewing pleasure, work distraction, reality escape etc. etc.

Sorry, but I didn't notice that the scanner was on high-resolution until it was too late.

I hope you all enjoy the images.

I have more stuff to go through so stay tuned !!!

Just knock down the size with a smaller copy before posting to avoid that scrolling feeling...

To help in reducing the size of the photographs, you may want to try to download a free program called "Photoresizerfree" that you can find through a google search.

Adequate size for this forum should be 900 pixels wide, and if you keep a fixed ratio, the program will automatically re-size the height of the photos for you

Maybe better to keerp them like that. It is not just resize but also finding white balance, reducing noize, curve enhancement, dust and scratching removing, color range.... let him keep like this or try to learn Adobe Photoshop.

If you want I could place enhanced version of the image above just to see difference.

That's an extraordinary collection of photos. Some rarely-photographed aircraft there. I think I even see a couple photos from the "Black Sheep" filming set.

The only thing I would suggest is that it would be great to have captions describing ID of aircraft and people, when and where taken, etc.

Also, I know some people get bored with copyright info on this forum, but you should know that your current copyright notice is legally insufficient. It should include the year of first publication and the actual person/company that owns the copyright.

A very fine selection of images...and good to see the shots of old and long gone friends Max Hoffman and Don Plumb.

Here is a shot of your dad at Oshkosh 1985 by Bob DeGroat.

Bob amused 'us colonials' with his tailor-made bespoke RAF tropical uniform with full insignia that he is wearing in this shot. It is referred to in the UK as the 'aint arf hot' kit.

I met your father a couple of times here in Wendover with his Hunter. What a great guy - thank you for posting those shots!! I had no idea of his depth of experience in piston planes.

My favorite is that B-58 taxiing or maybe the Thunderbirds and their F-100s.

To one and all, I am heartened that people are enjoying the pics.

I've left things open so that anyone can comment on a picture. There's just so many to go through that I couldn't caption all - or do proper justice to the content and impact as the community here can. Besides, I suspect some will find it fun to help document and describe the images. Mike Furline showed how people notice the strangest of things !!!

As for copyright information...I suppose I'll go through all of the images and re-stamp them at some point. I don't need to make money off of them; rather, good karma dictates that credit is given where credit is due. That's my main concern....thanks K5083.

Mgawa - I'd like to see what an 'enhanced' image would look like. I put the image through the scanner's (an HP) processing software. Thanks.....

PeterA...that outfit was my father's standard Halloween (and random holiday) costume !!! Sometimes we couldn't get him out of it for sanity's sake. Thanks for posting a few comments too...

Tom...thanks for your comments...as well as the comments you posted when my father had his accident.

In that regard, I'd like to express my appreciation to all that commented during that time. I for one can testify to the impact that postings here after an unfortunate incident have on the surviving family and friends. I shared the David Compton Talllichet thread with his children and they were most appreciative.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannuka, Merry Kwansa, Happy Great Pumpkin Day etc. etc.

Here's a couple of shots of the Hunter from the Chino Airshow in 2004. I greeted your dad when he taxied up (part of my official airshow duties), but didn't get any opportunity to get a snapshot of him.
