Has I remember the story, Crash was a young pilot serving in the ANG. Taking his family on vacation he stuffed them in a Piper Tri-pacer and then proceeded to overload it with fuel and baggage. Going over a mountain range he tried to clear a 8500' peak and made it to about 8450'. This if I recall was about a 100' day. His ANG squadron apointed him has their chief mountain flying expert and his wife (she's a sweet heart BTW) has never been off the ground since Exclamation He does carry a photo of the wreck in his pocket. I've flown with Crash a lot in the T-28 & TBM has he a very good stick Exclamation
