T-28s stored in Nevada desert

Fri Nov 16, 2007 2:54 am

Gentlemen,

Just received my copy of the fall 2007 issue of the American Aviation Historical Society journal. Vol 52, No. 3. On pages 194-195, Parick Dean has an article relating to fifty T-28s he found disassembled and stored in a secluded canyon in the western USA. He states that at least 20 flyable aircraft could be constructed from the 50 in the desert bone yard. In one photo at least 31 Trojan fuselages are visible sitting in two rows. The private collection is owned by a businessman.

If it is recent, it is John Gibson.

I think they are in Missouri now. If you want one give him a call.

He is a kind of a personal hero of mine. My urban legend story is, there is this cat that owns everything T28. The gubmint decides to sell a whole sh1tpile of T28's. So this guy goes to buy them. But!!!!, this other cat and his brother outbid. Kinda putting the kibosh on the whole monopoly thing dude 1 had planned.

I like that story. Don't know how true it is, but, it is kinda close.

and now THE ART!

Yeah, I think they are in Gallatin, MO now. They were advertised recently on Barnstormers. Some look pretty rough, but I guess there's ALOT of stuff there.

Around 30 T-28s were still in the yard at Nelson as of last month.
