This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Did you ever take your lady to Paris and Normandy? How was it? I hope to get there next summer.

This is that trip, and we had to limit it to Spain only. She really wanted to go to Spain and trying to cram Paris into 3 days was just not working. She puts up ALOT with my airplane and hot rod addictions, so Spain it is. The next trip overseas will be solely Paris (and maybe England). I have a friend in England now too so it would have been a good oportunity too, as he is moving to the US in January. Oh well. Spain will be great fun.

I have not thoroughly researched Europe, but you can find some listings of aircraft displayed in Spain here...

Wow! The warbird community is small, but alive and growing in Spain! It will be interesting to see what will happen in the future. I'd keep an eye out for South America!

The best museum is Museo del Aire, which I visited a few years ago:

There is also a superb collection of airworthy vintage aircraft operated by FIO an organisation not connected to or be confused with the Museo del air. I've attended one of their flying days - superb - see following website (from homepage click on Album Fotografico to view what they operate:

Hey, Django, when you do the running with the bulls, be sure to wear a WIX shirt so we can recognize you on the news. Don't know if you will have time, but I bet Gibralter is worth seeing also.

I highly recommend everyone goes to Normandy eventually. Some time ago I had a client close by (outside Le Havre) and took off early one afternoon to drive down to the beaches. It was truly one of the most sobering and humbling places I have ever been, particularly the American Cemetry. Many of the floating docks are still rusting away in the water off the beach.
I did find that the signage and such to the various beaches was somewhat disorganized, so be sure to get some kind of tourist map (which I didn't have). Also, there are some trashy French beach towns nearby, which clog up in the summer, so, like all other travel advice for Europe, go in the late spring or early fall. Also, when I went on a weekday, everything was deserted, which really lets you soak in the place.
For me it was especially meaningful to go to the beaches as my grandfather had led one of the first companies of tanks onto Omaha Beach. I scooped up some of the sand into a film cannister to take back to him. Unfortunately he died before I saw him, but I was able to pour the sand into his grave at the funeral.
