Question for GML Attendees

Sat Oct 27, 2007 8:59 pm

Did any of you meet my friend Ernie Wakehouse at GML and
maybe take his photo?? He was one of the "Legends" attending
and possibly the only 'purely' Korean 51 pilot honored.

Ernie's a prince and still flies his Bonanza about 150 hours a year
out of Portland International.
It was nice to see an ordinary pilot ie non WWII/ace get a little recognition 8)

Jack,

I believe I did see Ernie Wakehouse inside the Legends tent, but I got distracted while listening to another Legend speaking in the "lecture" tent next door. Later when I went back to the main tent, the guy I believe was Ernie Wakehouse was gone. I really wanted him to sign the liner of my A-2 jacket along with the other signatures I got.

By the way Jack, I happened to get over to the Evergreen Museum on Sunday, Oct. 21st and got a chance to meet Gen. Staryl Austin and visit for a few minutes with him. I was wearing my A-2 so I got his signature on the liner while we were talking.

You weren't at that induction ceremony were you??

Hi Ted,
No I couldn't make. Staryl Austin is one of the most deserving
to get that honor has a few got it because of politics or $$$ :?
When the weathers good Ernie likes to fly his Bonanza down here
for lunch. When he does again I'll call you so you can meet him.

There you go, Jack.

Ernie Wakehouse, speaking at the media forum on the Saturday. Well worth missing the airshow on the Saturday to hear some of these fine gentlemen speak, and get to meet several of them. Oh, and ladies too - it was fascinating to spend some time in the WASPs tent during the afternoon to meet some of them as well.

Were you at that panel Mike? I was there as well. I was the guy that asked who they would like to be remembered. I am sorry I missed the opportunity to shake your hand.

Anyway... I got some video of the event which I will eventually get around to posting.
