Any new P-47 restorations going on?

I seem to remember a new P-47 restoration going on somewhere. Also how many P-47's are actually flying right now? ... CAF's P-47 progress? ... TFC's razorback flying yet? ... photo's anyone? .... asking too much yet? ... lolol

There is the one brought out of a lake in Germany but I don't know if it's being worked on or just stored at this time.

Last time I went and saw Neal Melton in Tennessee, he said that he has a razor back P-47 project going on at Chino. I have not been up there yet to see it.

It's almost a shame to restore the Razorback, would of made a great preservation display.

if you are referring to the torn-up razorback with the nicely preserved victory & other markings, iirc it is not being restored but rather will be preserved as is; I'm not sure if it is going back to PNG, though, or where it will eventually end up.

I could be mistaken, of course...

Well, there are at least eight, and probably more P-47's under restoration at present. There are at least three at Klaer's aviation in Rialto, CA, (one or more razorbacks), two with Bob Greinert in Australia (both razorbacks), the TFC P-47G, The CAF's P-47N, and the P-47D "Dottie Mae" recovered from the lake in Europe a couple of years ago. Could be a great time for the razorbacks in the coming years!

PS. The partial P-47 razorback that was recovered from PNG with the cool nose art is not going to be restored, just preserved. It will also serve as a perfect cockpit reference for Greinerts other two P-47's as it's cockpit was in literally time-capsule conditon. It is supposed to be returned to PNG as such time as they have a museum to properly house it.
