Being a long-time subscriber and enthusiastic reader, I am curious how the gang here feels about Flight Journal magazine? I don't see them mentioned here much at all. Are they taboo like the TIGHAR group?

Same as most of us here, I prefer to get current info on restorations and the such from the internet. Seeing the photos of Vlado Lenoch flying Butch Schroeder's P-47 across the September issue cover and the cameraship pilot being David Frasca seems to be close to the heart of many WIX'ers

Vlado, if you read this, I am curious as to how many types of warbirds you are current on?

I've always read Flight Journal and though their main focus is on history, as opposed to restorations, they usually give some coverage in the news section about projects and such.
They do use photos of current warbirds to illustrate some of their historical articles.

Don't forget the WIX posters and lurkers who have work regularly published in Flight Journal as well. Look for several articles in upcoming issues by Kaigun researcher (and OSH female recruitment photographer! ) Ron Werneth.

I like it.

I particularly like the articles that have the detailed "this is how it flies" point of view, and the closeup walk around photography.

I always figured if I saw it in ANY of the great mags, which I consider the likes of Warbirds Digest, Flight Journal, Fly-Past, Smithsonian Air and Space and the ones I'm sorry I'm forgetting at the moment to be...

That everyone else on WIX has seen it too. And unless there was some egregious error, what would be the point?

Thanks Scott for the heads-up on the podcast! I will certainly give that one some of my undivided attention

Very good to see that there are others here who like Flight Journal mag as much as I do...especially the great photography.

Still can't beat WIX for the most up-to-the-minute info on restorations and anything else warbird related! Great site and even better people!!

Flight Journal was at the AOPA Expo in Hartford Ct. giving away what they called thier best copies. I got P-38 (Summer 03), B-25 (Fall 06), P-40 (Feb 07) and P-47 (Aug 07) Sweet!
