The placement of that mirror is the result of 63rd crew chief Frank Gyidik. There was another on on the other side of the fuselage as well. I can't recall off the top of my head which plane he did that to first, but I know that once Mahurin flew that plane he insisted that Frank put those same side mirrors on his jug too. This I know from an interview I did with Frank back in May of this year. I can go back and look up which plane in the 63rd was the first to have the side mirrors if you would like...

I had a bunch of shots that Paul Conger sent me years ago.
I may have a few left in storage but a lot of them burned with my
house. :? :?
I'll look through my photobucket accounts has I had quite a few
scanned along with ones Gene O'Neill sent me and others from Lewis Brown's cousin.
