Just found this on Airliners.net

Glider

Ditto. Glider.

And yet, some of the old farts who post may remember that XCOR Aerospace announced (several years ago) their intention of designing Me-163 replicas using their safer/more reliable rocket engines. Do any lurkers follow XCOR enough to know whether that is still part of the plan?

There was also information on the WIX about Mr Allen's Me-163 a few years back.
I believe it even included a link to an operational engine he bought for it on eBay...

I don't think you can get T-Stoff and C-Stoff anymore. I'm not sure who you would get to volunteer as ground crew either !

I don't believe making the "Stoffen" would be the real problem.

Although I can see how being partially or completely dissolved by them in a major spill might put a damper on ones day!

Can you imagine the excitement in the offices of the FAA/CAA if someone were to try and license a Me-163?

That is an awsome replica! I had no idea something like that was around. Must be awsome to see at an airshow.

All it needs is a BF-110 (They could probably swing a JU-52 right? although that might be too big) tow-plane 8) ...

Could a BF-108 tow it?

What you need is to see about using an engine like that used in SpaceShip One

combined with a Me 163 replica.

Seems to me it wouldn't be that hard to put a little jet engine in the thing..like the one in the BD-5J. I read that the Komet was a delight to fly as a glider..it was the powerplant that was the killer.

Perhaps you will have to settle or an original He162 Salamander.

I assume that glider is a replica and not a real Komet...correct?

Those two hurdles are actually not as difficult as you imply, Rick. All you have to
do is walk into a room full of beer-sodden NASA retirees and exclaim, " It's
impossible to recreate T-stoff/C-stoff, and if that is accomplished, we can't
find anyone SMART enough to load it onto the bird!"

If you want the project viable within...say a year..tell them a Russian team
said, "It'll take 5years"... :D :D :D
