Greetings
I was wondering if it will ever be likely that Wings over Houston will get to be like Thunder in Michigan ? My inlaws live in Michigan and I must say that it is a pretty good reason to go see them oh yeah and Thunder too! I am not knocking Houston I live for that Show every year, Why not that type of draw ? their lots and lots of WIXER that live here in Texas . And not to mention more Flyable Heavies than any where else in the world 3 B-17's 1 B-24 A 1 Navy B-24 Soon to fly ! at least one connie and the only flyable B-29 when she get some new motors ! lost count on B-25's and A-26's One really sharp R4D Corsairs and many many more ! I hope that in the near furure that Wings over Houston will get a little clap of Thunder too !

I hate to be negative Glen but I dont think WOH will ever be like a Thunder. But hey...who knows. There was a little bit of a discussion on another thread about WOH.

WOH used to have great lineups on the warbird ramp. Really miss the old days.

Yep, was a ball. The whole weekend.
And it takes a lot for me to go back to Houston.

Were any of you guys at WOH when we the Blues didn't fly on Sat. because of supposed airspace conflict with Hobby ? F-14A Demo stole the show. Nimrod guys showed up at Saturday night's party with bagpipes, kilts, and LARGE bottles of whiskey with stacks of little shot cups.
Sunday was one of the worst airshow washouts I've ever seen, no one could leave so everyone was still in town for a survivors party. The Nimrod crew did a skit that stole the show and brought about 6 kinds of Brit/Scot beer and ale .
There was such a row with the Blues and airshow management they stomped out, got in their Blue jets, and launched into a driving rain and a 50 ft ceiling. They haven't been back to Houston since ! Which is a da#m shame!

I was at the show, and remember a LARGE woman cursing at Ralph Royce up on the platform at show center demanding a refund

Good thing he didn't come down

#8 that year came into town to verify airspace for the waiver and demanded more area than had ever been needed. Show management worked with the FAA and got it done. When the winds shifted on Saturday the Blues refused to fly, citing airspace conflict.
That team, that year, was extremely full of themselves.

Too bad Blues haven't come back.....that was a mess (to be polite ) that Sat. I didn't realize they hadn't been back but I haven't been there in 5 years so......................
