Martin Maryland & Baltimore?

Found this on ebay. From the 1939 date I was guessing Maryland or Baltimore parts, if they are all from the same wreck.

Wouldn't be a Baltimore or model 187, as they were later than 1939. Also, they were all built for Commonwealth use, and wouldn't have French language. I have a few pieces off 187's, and no French stuff. I am pretty sure this a Maryland, or model 167. Neat stuff, thanks for sharing.

The French purchased the Model 167 Maryland for their Air Force. IIRC, a few examples made it to France just before the outset of war, but most were transferred to the RAF upon the fall of France in June of 1940. I wasn't aware that any of them saw combat under French colors...neat stuff.

The Lend Lease Act wasn't passed until 1941.

Martin 167 Marylands flew against the British and Americans in Vichy French hands from North Africa in '43.

Look out for the 167s with the yellow and red stripes.

It's also worth noting that the RAF operated Marylands from Malta on photo reconnaissance; as far as I know, there were no mix ups with the types being mis-identified.

The US types obtained in 1939 - 1941 by France, Britain, Australia, Holland etc. were paid for, cash on the barrelhead in almost all cases. No special deals.

Actually, a considerable number of M167 Marylands flew combat with Vichy French forces in North Africa, both with Air Force and Naval squadrons.
