Expander Tube Brakes

Tue Oct 12, 2004 5:15 pm

I have acquired in my parts journeys Expander Tube Brakes, and NOS parts for something just a bit bigger than an L5. I have two NOS expander tubes and a couple pucks and dust covers. I am wondering what else out there takes expander tube brakes. They are not for a Bamboo Bomber- too small and I've already compared them. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi John,

Fairchild PT's use Hayes expander tube brake assemblies. Shoot me the part numbers and I can tell you if your's were used on the PT's, or....if you would like me to send you a copy of the Fairchild Parts list off line, I can do that too. Who knows, maybe it will help you in identifying other mystery parts you have.

By the way, all Fairchild OEM parts are 6xxxx, or 6xxxx-xx numbers.

P.S. If they do indeed fit Fairchilds, I'm your number one customer...... :D

Brake Parts

Steve,
Thanks. I'll get you photos and parts numbers. I should have remembered that, but in this ever evolving collection of mine, details like PT26's have squoosh brakes get away from you... I appreciate it. Are you flying one now, or do you have a project?
Appreciate the info on PT parts numbers. Do the Fleet MFD ones cross over on the same numbers, or did they use another parts numbering system?

John,

"Are you flying one now, or do you have a project?"

Project. My brother Dave and I have the one PT-26 and three PT-19's that are all in various stages of disrepair, but the PT-26 is the one that will eventually fly with me behind the stick, the rest of them are trading material......that, hopefully, someone else will make fly someday too.

"Do the Fleet MFD ones cross over on the same numbers, or did they use another parts numbering system?"

You know, that's a good question, I have never really dealt with Fleet built parts too much, but I will find out and let you know. My "assumption" is that they use the same numbers, but I WILL find out for sure for you......

"I'll settle for peace on earth."

Amen!

Steve
