My Father in Law was a crew chief on P47s stationed at Wright Field in WWII. He has a lot of photos that we recently 'inherited' that my mother-in-law was going to throw away. At some stage, we'd like to donate these, along with his newspaper clipping collection to a museum that could put them to good use. More photos to come, this is the only one I've managed to scan so far.
This photo was taken for National Geographic, explaining how gun cameras are now being used to record dogfights. I will scan the article and post it later.

Throw away---- Shutter!
Great save, I hate to think how many pictures like this get tossed when someone in the family would want them or someone out side of the family might be interested.

Check the meager contents of this lad's tool belt......Somehow, if I had to take that panel off I would have to have the Snap On truck back up to the wing!
Let's see some more mech pics!

I'll warm up the scanner and get some more pics up tonight. By the way, that is my father in law in the pic.

I believe this plane went down near Greensboro, NC, after an air show appearance (ran low on fuel from making one too many passes). I believe my FIL was sent out to guard this jet until they could remove it from the field. Pilot unhurt (I believe).

My FIL was assigned to this plane/ pilot in Miami, FL, where they were testing fuels for the D-Day invasion. I have some better pics of this plane and a P38 that participated in the testing at my office.
