Warbirds of WWII Vol.One DVD

Sun Aug 19, 2007 12:18 am

Just wondering if any of you guys have seen this video. It's distributed thru Timeless Media Group and features six warbird sections: P-40,P-51,B-17,P-38,P-47,B-24 and the B-29. Though i'm no historian on the subject i have seen many a documentary in various media productions and have to say that this one has some footage and narration that is refreshing and i believe to be fairly accurate.

The most notable part of the set is a Mustang demonstration dealing with dive speed and spin characteristics of the P-51 and to my surprise was done with classic film stars Lee J. Cobb and Arthur Kennedy (as the pilot). this film short must've been released in the theaters of the era, possibly to recruit young pilots for the war effort, though this is only a guess on my part.

If anyone has more detailed information about the afformentioned, i would love to hear from you.

Blue Skies,

Anthony

The Cobb/Kennedy sequence came from the training film "How to Fly the P-51".
