Tue Jul 24, 2007 12:57 pm

Hi folks,

My first time posting an ad for information!!!

We have recently aquired the Nose section of ex Band of Brothers DC-3 serial no. 19074, tail no. 42-100611. Can anyone provide us with any information regarding her possible WW2 career? Also anyone with any photos of when she was still in one piece would be grately appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Daniel, was your section of the C-47 used in the movie as a whole? How did it end up in pieces?

TIA,

Lynn

Hi,

I believe the cockpit section was cut off when she was scrapped in France, it was then painted up as Lilly Bell II and displayed at the Berkshire Aviation Museum for a while before ending up with Aces High at North Weald. I have managed to track down the tail number via the net (see above) but cannot seem to find any further information about where or what she got up to in the WW2.

I believe there was also a whole fuselage that was used in Band of Brothers that has now been sold and exported to France. Our cockpit section was used in all the cockpit scenes.

Cheers

Dan

Is this the cockpit section with the removable top? I saw that one in the Aces High Hangar when I was cannabalising the fuselage outside that was also used for the movie.

I have the Fire extinguisher panel that sits between the pilots if you are interested.

Email ;

AFHRANews@maxwell.af.mil

and ask for Individual records card for your aircraft tail number.
they will send you via US Mail , a copy of the actual Aircraft Record card.
Email me if youd like to see the one for ours.

Dave,

Is that a source for records cards for any US military aircraft? I'm looking for records on a certain B-17G and F-86F.

Cheers!

Yes for all US Aircraft, but i know that address will work for the b-17, you can ask if they are the same department for the F-86, being that its not a WWII bird. I dont know if they have separate departments.
Work for our C-47
