Warbirds of America Fly-in at Anoka

Sat Oct 02, 2004 8:06 pm

I went down to Anoka today for a small fly-in put on by EAA Warbirds of America Squadron 27. There were a number of trainers in attendance, and while the flying was for formation work, the pilots were kind enough to give those of us on the ground a few passes. The action didn't stop at the airport either, upon returning home I looked up to see a pair of L-39s high overhead in tight formation.

Also in attendance was L-29 N11CD which I didn't grab any photos of it this time.

Man, those little CJ-6s look like fun. :D Seems like a nice little gathering. Does the Sea Hawk belong to the WoA Squadron??

The Sea Hawk belongs to Amjet, it's available as a project if you happen to have $25k to spare. Sea Hawk project for sale.

The CJ-6 seems like a nice little warbird, and it's one of the most inexpensive ones to aquire, though I'm not sure about operating cost...

Nice photos Dan. Is that Amjet's hangar in the background in some of the Sea Hawk photos? Would you have any updates on the Amjet Seafire restoration there?

Thanks
Al.

Yes, that is Amjet's hangar in the background. Sorry, I don't have any updates on the Seafire for you, I haven't been in that hangar since it was still Polar Aviation Museum.
