P-38 crash near AGC in 1940's

Mon Jul 16, 2007 4:50 pm

Does any one have any info on a P-38 that crashed near the Allegheny County Airport in Pittsburgh, PA? It took place in the late 40's early 50's, and was non-fatal.

You need to look in some of the older issues of Air Classics. If I recall there was an article about it 10 or 15 years ago. I do recall that the pilot was younger (like 28 or so) and had some mechanical problems. If you can figure out the issue I may be able to find it in my own archives (assuming the XWIFE didn't take them too)

Man that would be awsome to find out about. My friend never saw the aircraft, but did see the pilot afterwards.
