Very cool, Dan. Knowing he is taking the helm of the 48th is great. I was stationed there from 85-88 as just a lowly comm grunt.

You are another guy that doesn't look his age!!!! Geesh! Served in '85?

Yep, underneath this youthful exterior, I'm just a crusty old buzzard!

He is my boss' boss at Lakenheath....a very good guy to work for. Actually one of the most level-headed Ops Group Commanders I've ever had.

Not at Lakenheath...perhaps at home, though.

Well, there's a guy that knows cool from uncool.

Slightly more seriously, the number of Zero (and Hellcat) pilots will be significantly less than Raptor drivers today. Glad to see some USAF guys appreciate rare stuff.

Great story, Dan, really pleased to hear it.

You should ask him if he has any of them--I'm sure a suitable DPI version could be got to him

I took the pics in October 2003. He gave me his email address at Edwards and I sent these and several others to him. He sent me a very nice thank you note. I hope he still has them. I remember he told me that he flew F-15s before the F-22s. It looks like he is back with the 15s.

He was actually an air-to-air (F-15C) pilot before, and now joining the fight in a multirole fighter (F-15E).
