There is a great friend of mine that really helped me through my years as a teenager, and through out my career in aviation. He and I had been hitting air shows and museums together for a long time. Some of the best trips I have ever been on were because of him. He is about 75, and he is starting to have some health issues. I want to do something cool for him, and I am not sure what. I have been friends with him since I was 14 (about 13 years now). We go to Oshkosh every year, and are doing so again this year. He is starting to slow down a bit though. I was thinking of trying to get him a ride or something, but I really have no idea where to turn. Do you guys have an suggestions?

I wish I could say I could hook him up for a ride on Aluminum Overcast, but I don't have that kind of pull around here. I can tell you from experience though, that one of the best rides at Oshkosh is the helicopter ride. You really get to see just how big AirVenture is, and riding in a Bell 47 is a hoot. It's also the most affordable ride there is here. The next best affordable ride would be on the Ford Trimotor, which is a blast as well. Make sure you get in line early to get a ride, as the lines get long in a hurry.

Find someone in the local CAF and arrange a REAL ride for him

I am just not sure what to do. I would love to do something cool for hiim at Oshkosh, as going there is a tradition of ours since 1996. Our local CAF Wing has an L-5. He had flown in them before, I just don't know what to try.

Thanks Tom, We actually volunteer there. We try to do one weekend a month, but it doesn't always work out.
