I received the following email recently:
trying to get info on a bicycle produced by the stearman co. of Enid Oklahoma in the 1946-1949 era, any help would be appreciated,
Off the top of my head I have no idea, but I checked the online archive of the SRA and found that Ken Wilson wrote an article “A Stearman by any other name is probably – a bicycle” in the SRA Outfit in 1988.
Over the weekend I rooted around in the hangar in my back issues, but couldn’t find that one.
Could anybody shed some light on the “Stearman Bicycle”?

Update:
Jack Davis sent me a picture from the August 2004 issue of the SRA Flying Wire. I was in the middle of a household move at the time, so I never saw that one.
Anyway, Lloyd Stearman developed a children’s bicycle in the late 40’s complete with an art deco airplane logo. Cool stuff.

Received this reply when I sent it to Ken Wilson "it was Lloyd's first cousins that produced the bike, Lloyd had nothing to do with it."

Thanks Roger! I don’t think I’ve talked to Ken in ages, and I didn’t see his name in the latest SRA member directory.

He posts regularly on my Yahoo Stearman board, so that's how I've been in contact with him over the recent years...........
