1937 - Pilot Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan vanished over the Pacific Ocean somewhere in area north east of Papua New Guinea while attempting to make the first equatorial round-the-world flight.
Amazing 70 years ago today!
Japanese shot her down and fuel starvation to wx extreme are the rumours.
